Mushrooms
are one of the most widespread living organisms on the
Earth. The science on mushrooms–MYCOLOGY (from the Greek
word myko-champignon, mushroom, logos- science) has
undergone a long path of development . The Greek philosopher
Aristotle is considered to be the progenitor of mushrooms,
who was also the first one to describe them.
In Roman civilization mushrooms were highly appreciated.
They called them the food of Gods or the Emperor’s food.
In their works the Roman writers often mentioned mushrooms.
Thus Marcial wrote down the following verse:
Silk, gold and clothing
even the mistress you can do without,
However, mushroom dishes can never be out!
From Sumerian and Greek mysteries to the American Indians
rites, the holy mushrooms cult is as old as the cognition
of the good and the evil, or illusion on Devine power
and eternity.
It has been proved scientifically that many mushroom
spices possess extraordinary medicinal effects.
If we just remember the microscopic fungi Penicillium,
from which a wide-spectrum antibiotic was obtained,
named penicillin. How many lives have been saved by
it ?
It has been proved that over five hundred species of
mushrooms possess medicinal properties. Mushrooms are
one of the most delicious specialties and the greatest
secrets. The summer grown porcini stimulates many important
functions in the man and it is used in treatment of
stenocardia and frostbites, and it also has anti-cancerogenic
properties.
