Preserve
is a typical Serbian specialty. The traditional Serbian
welcome would always start with a preserve and slivowitz,
a well-known plum brandy.
Preserve
is a home made product, prepared in a traditional manner
by experienced housewives and cooks. It is prepared
on wood-burning stove in huge open pots used only once
a year to make the preserve. It is entirely pure product.
Sugar sometimes tends to crystallize, however it does
not alter the quality of the preserve.
The
preserve consists of whole fruits which can be seen
in thick syrup. It is served on a tray in small bowls
together with a glass of fresh water. A guest usually
takes a teaspoon of the preserve and a sip of water
(if someone wishes to take more another teaspoon should
be used).
Ethno Food offers several flavors of
preserve: wild strawberries
preserve, blueberries
preserve, blackberries
preserve, plum preserve,
cherries preserve, plums
filled with walnuts preserve and quince preserve.
Upon special request Ethno Food will
prepare other fruits preserve as well.
